Asia Cruise

Biography

Mini Biography
Asia Cruise is breaking the mold of pop/R&B music and not looking back. This young artist at 18 years old is set to change the face of pop and urban music, or rather bring to it a new face. Of Filipino, Native American and Caucasian descent, Asia stands out as not only one of the only Asian solo female artists on a major record label, but as a high energy performance-driven artist with infectious vocals and hit songs already making an impact and gaining fans across the world.

Signed to A&R executive and hitmaker Mickey "MeMpHitz" Wright through his Hitz Committee/Jive Records label imprint, Asia's forthcoming album "Who Is Asia Cruise?" is planned for release in 2009. A mysterious marketing campaign with only the silhouette of a girl along with a record produced by TheCornaBoyz called "Selfish" permeated the internet earlier this year and introduced Asia's sound. With the buzz generated by the song alone on internet and demand from radio, ASIA shot a video for "Selfish" that premiered on both MTV TRL and BET's 106th & Park, a major accomplishment for any new artist. The demand for "Selfish" made it an instant hit single, rising to #33 on the Billboard Rhythmic charts and hitting #1 in Hawaii and top 10 in various regional markets.

Already named by USA Today as one of the "Top 5 Young Artists To Watch" along with Estelle, Duffy, and Karina Pasian, Asia Cruise's official debut has been much anticipated. Recording with multi-platinum and award-winning artist/producer/songwriter and labelmate T-Pain (Jive), hit producers like Danja, Bluetooth, OAK and hit artist/songwriter Colby O'Donis (KonLive/Interscope), Asia is now set to release her first official single to radio called "Ur Swagger" featuring rap sensation Yung Joc (Bad Boy South/Atlantic) and produced by T-Pain.

Asia has also worked with accomplished choreographer/artistic director Sakinah LeStage (T-Pain, Sophia Fresh, Nivea, Ne-Yo), prominent in the Atlanta music scene, to create a captivating stage show to which Asia brings her own "swagger." She has opened for pop sensation Chris Brown (Jive) and performed to sold out shows in Hawaii and various clubs around the US.

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Asia Nalani has been singing since the age of 5. At 10 she attended a youth theater summer camp and, after the reaction she received at her first performance, knew that being a performing artist was her calling. From a young age she used her outstanding vocals and performance talents to give back to her local Northeast Florida community with performances for the American Cancer Society and the Jacksonville Fair, as well as belting out the national anthem for the Jackonsville Suns and performing in regional production of "The King and I" and the "Tribute to America" benefit concert with Dionne Warwick and Isaac Hayes.
